Chattanooga Golf and Country Club was founded in 1896 and is the oldest course at its original site in Tennessee. Located on the banks of the Tennessee River, the club was formed only eight years after the opening of the first golf course in the United States.
HK Architects have developed a great partnership with the Chattanooga Golf and Country Club. Over the past 15 years, the firm has helped to modernize this historic facility and update its identity in the community as the premier club in the city of Chattanooga for both recreational and social events. This has included renovating both the men’s and ladies’ locker rooms, the club’s three dining rooms, and designing additions to club’s current facilities. With younger families starting to become prominent members at the club, there has been a push to update and modernize the main entry and event spaces. Our goal was to help reinvigorate the club’s identity by creating a design statement in the main corridor and updating the interiors of the event spaces to give the club a more sophisticated feel. This also gives a chance to unify the design and materials for the whole club, so that the newly renovated spaces and the existing spaces align with the club’s identity.
