Chattanooga State Envelope Repairs
The Chattanooga State Several Buildings Envelope Repair project involved a campus wide assessment to determine which building envelopes were in greatest need of repair. Once the assessment was completed the scope was refined to the 14 most critical buildings. These 14 buildings were then thoroughly evaluated to determine specifically what repairs were needed. We undertook efforts to determine the cause for untimely material failures and provide corrective detailing to prolong the life of the repairs and reduce the life cycle costs of the buildings. In most cases the work included the replacement of failing caulk joints, the incorporation of proper flashings, repairs to building settlement cracks, addition of control joints in masonry veneer walls to allow thermal expansion, and repair of masonry veneer walls that had failed due to inadequate control joints. The work also included the replacement of the single pane storefront window system along the south wall of the Albright Omniplex with an insulated glass, thermally broken storefront system to increase energy efficiency and building appearance.
