Chattanooga State Parking Lot
The Chattanooga State Parking project involved the expansion of the 119 space parking lot at the Center for Business & Industry Health to a 365 space parking lot. This expansion provide overflow parking from the main campus served via shuttle. The parking lot was designed and oriented to allow for a future building or future parking lot expansion opposite the CBIH building should the need arise. At the start of the project, the site soils were found to be of inadequate quality so eighteen inches of suitable fill were place on the site and graded to drain into shade-tree-lined bio swales for filtration which then feed into the surrounding wetlands. This approach eliminated the initial expense and life cycle costs of water quality units & underground storm water retention piping. We worked closely with our civil engineering consultant and the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to insure the design was as environmentally conscientious as possible while being respectful of the budgetary limitations and owner’s objectives.
