Code Science is a technology company who chose to relocate their headquarters from Atlanta to Chattanooga, taking advantage of the Gig City’s tech-friendly community and speedy internet. The neighborhood they chose to join was the city’s Southside district, an area known to harbor creativity and growth. Their goal in the design process was to create a space that expressed their innovative, collaborative, and eccentric spirit. This was achieved through a series of carefully crafted collaborative environments: open office, communal break, huddle, and meeting rooms. A pass-thru was created in the existing brick wall between open office and break to invite an exchange of daylight and conversation. Industrial concrete floors pave the circulation areas while hexagon shaped carpet tiles define the work-oriented spaces. Writable wall surfaces allow for spontaneous interactions and creative light fixtures encourage idea bulbs to light up. The resulting environment reinforces Code Science’s imaginative brand and culture.
