The team of architect and owner worked together to resurrect this urban retail space. Budgetary restrains required thoughtful reuse of the existing lighting, electrical, and mechanical systems. The irregularly shaped space was simplified and unified by adding a curvilinear wall which separates the retail space from the back of house areas. This wall also conceals the inconvenient location of the existing electrical equipment and is clad in patinated sheet steel which is the basis of the simple palette of rich browns and natural materials. These natural colors and materials create a warm neutral background and draw attention to the branding of products on display.
