Dogwood Manor is an 18 story apartment building located in downtown Chattanooga. The building includes 136 one bedroom apartments and associated public and support spaces located on the ground floor. The building is owned by the Chattanooga Housing Authority and provides low income housing for the elderly. HK was tasked with designing a renovation for the building that included increasing energy efficiency, addressing issues related to MEP infrastructure, providing new finishes in the apartments and public space, modernizing the building’s elevators, providing upgraded security and access control systems, and refinishing the entire building exterior to improve aesthetics and address issues related to water and air infiltration. The overall goal for the Housing Authority was to extend the life of the building and continue to provide good quality housing options for the elderly community.
