MSCC – Motlow Powers Auditorium
The college complained of very poor acoustics in their 1980’s auditorium. HK was hired to refresh the space, improve the acoustics, and modernize their lighting and sound system.
Eoff Hall serves the performance and assembly needs of Motlow State Community College and the surrounding community. We were excited to work with the campus to address acoustic problems, ADA accessibility, and bringing the facility up to date. In order to improve the acoustics, we brought in Newcomb & Boyd to give us a thorough acoustic evaluation. Under their guidance, we designed an acoustic paneling system that greatly improved the sound quality in the space. All of the theatrical lighting and electrical was upgraded to allow the space to continue to modernize further in the future. A fully featured theatrical surround sound system was installed to improve sound quality for guest speakers and large performances. A redesigned proscenium arch gives much more emphasis to the stage while tying into the acoustic paneling design. HK selected new carpet tile, new theater seating, and new paint to give the space a bright, fresh feeling. Additionally, a new extension was added to the stage to provide ADA access while simultaneously giving a new interactive and immersive feature for future performances.
