The client requested a monument for the attraction Ruby Falls that would be like a National Park Sign. The design quickly evolved into a water wall relating to the waterfall of the Ruby Falls cavern. Ruby Falls is strategically located on the main road to Lookout Mountain, a community with several attractions, and the message on the sign reflects this.
Dolomitic Limestone from Valders, Wisconsin in cleft and flamed finishes was chosen for its enduring qualities, strength, density, an ability to blend with the natural setting and existing stone walls. Since its completion, the monument sign itself has become an attraction and photo opportunity for visitors.
