UTC Roof Replacement
This American Recovery and Reinvestment Act project with a scope including Davenport Hall, Pfeiffer Hall, Founders Hall, Frist Hall, and the 739 McCallie Building required the tear-off and replacement of the entire roof system on each building. Pfeiffer Hall also included the removal and replacement of the masonry parapets which were originally constructed without proper flashings and had deteriorated greatly. All roofs were detailed to provide through wall copper flashings under each stone coping with removable reglet flashing to reduce future roof replacement costs. A cold applied SBS modified bitumen roofing system with a high albedo cap sheet was specified to reduce building lifecycle costs. Modified bitumen was required by the University to allow the University Maintenance Department to self-perform any required maintenance or repairs.
