NORTHSHORE PERCH
A retired couple with a passion for the outdoors sought a property embracing Chattanooga's natural beauty while being close to urban conveniences. They found their ideal location perched on a hill in Chattanooga’s Northshore, offering views of the Tennessee River, Walnut Street Bridge, and Tennessee Aquarium. Their background in commercial set design informed their hands-on approach—after builders completed structural elements, they finished much of the home themselves. They worked through building issues themselves, even enlisting local climbers to rappel along the facade, demonstrating their connection to the outdoor community.
Northshore Perch creates a seamless connection between indoor and outdoor living through expansive windows and glass doors that flood the interior with natural light and frame Chattanooga's vistas. The strategic placement of these openings creates the sensation of being outdoors while inside, supporting the owners' active lifestyle of kayaking, cycling, running, and hiking.
The home features a bridged entry guiding visitors from the street to the interior where views of Chattanooga's landscape unfold. Living spaces span four levels, each connected to the surrounding environment. The third-floor main living area captures breathtaking views, while the fourth floor houses the master suite. A guest level occupies the second floor, and the basement contains the "Dude Abode" - a comprehensive woodworking workshop.
