Ruby Falls was looking for a monument reminiscent of a National Parks sign, so HK Architects designed a water wall as a nod to the popular waterfall. Ruby Falls is strategically located on the main road to Lookout Mountain, an area with several attractions, which are also highlighted on the sign. Dolomitic Limestone from Valders, Wisconsin, in cleft and flamed finishes, was chosen for its enduring strength, density, and ability to blend with the existing stone walls. Since its completion, the monument sign has become an attraction in its own right, and a popular photo opportunity for visitors.
