Simple Focus is a branding, design, and user experience agency with offices in Memphis, Portland, and Chattanooga. The company’s youthful, modern energy is coupled with an affinity for older buildings, particularly industrial rehabilitations. HK Architects brought our experience in adaptive reuse to custom fit an office space that would facilitate creative thinking as well as serve as an excellent space for entertaining clients.
HK’s design solution implemented both private work areas as well as collaborative spaces to offer workplace flexibility. We maintained the industrial feel they were looking for by keeping the exposed brick walls as well as industrial flooring, but meeting both with modern touches. Portions of the brick wall were painted white for a more open feel, and a reclaimed barnwood infuses the space with an interesting design element while also helping with acoustics. We merged the original floor with shaw hex tiles throughout the space for additional acoustic mitigation as well as to bring in the Simple Focus brand colors.
Our clients enjoyed their office so much, they brought us on to do a second space when they outgrew their first. Each space is marked by the same balance of old and new, private and group settings—overall creating a supportive environment for the company’s creative pursuits.
