The Ironstead building is a former storage facility in the Southside District of Chattanooga which later became abandoned. The challenge was to convert this old building into four new office spaces and address the significant deterioration of some of the key structural members and walls. Additionally, preserving the old aesthetic of brick interiors and tall open spaces while implementing new character in the areas was a key goal. Brick and glass block was reused from an area where it had been removed for window opening, while mezzanines for more lease space allow the tenants to enjoy the views through some of the clearstory windows. Storefront glass with energy efficient ratings was also installed and new landscape was implemented.
