U.S. Xpress, one of the leading logistics companies in the country, recognized the need for an expansion and upgrade of their terminal in Dallas, TX. HK Architects was tasked with creating a welcoming and comfortable facility that values their drivers and increases driver retention.The renovation project included expanding the maintenance shop, renovating the driver lounge, and elevating the building's exterior.

The updated lounge features state-of-the-art amenities such as a large fitness room, private showers, a dog run, a pool table,a large kitchen with unlimited hot coffee, and a relaxation room with various activities and comfortable lounge furniture. The terminal also features driver training technology and classrooms. Additionally, the design includes private and shared offices to accommodate the facility’s logistics staff. The offices and classrooms are fully furnished with modern, ergonomic furniture.

HK Architects also improved and expanded the maintenance facility, adding four new drive-through bays to the existing ten bay shop. The site plan and traffic flow were reworked to allow for a covered inspection lane and new entrance. In addition to the updates above, the design team implemented individual colors for each of the building systems with bright, exciting hues that run through the shop to increase the maintenance staff's efficiency and effectiveness.
